Everyone beholds or worships something. Usually it’s ourselves. The gospel frees us to behold, worship, and exalt God. He is who we long to know and be known by. When we gather we primarily want to exalt Him and treasure Him above all. We do this in our gatherings through prayer, song, scripture reading, giving, baptism, communion, and preaching. We believe the greatest gift and blessing we could give to people is to give them more of God and help them behold Him more fully.
As we are gathering and beholding God together He is moving, working, and building up the body of Christ. He then graciously allows us to take part in this work with Him. Part of building up the body of Christ is following Jesus’ command to go and make disciples. In other words, to go and help others follow Jesus. Following Jesus was never intended to be a solo endeavor. The Gospel not only reconciles us to God, but it also reconciles us to one another. The Bible now refers to the Church as a family or as the body of Christ. We rely on and need one another as we follow Jesus.
We genuinely and generously love the city and desire to seek its peace and prosperity (Jer. 29:7). We believe the ultimate blessing to this city will be to proclaim the Good News that Jesus saves. We not only want to proclaim God’s love to the city, but also show God’s love to the city through good works. We are not saved by our good works but instead saved for good works. The church should not be against the city or a refuge from the city, but instead be a blessing to the city as Christ redeems, renews, and restores it.
We desire to be a people who proclaim and delight in the gospel. By the grace of God we will exist to Behold, Build, Bless.
